2021 event update

To all our valued BCCC supporters,As Melbourne’s fifth lockdown remains fresh in our minds, Sydney in their seventh week and SE Queensland also in lockdown, the Covid environment is still an uncertain one. Despite hope that lockdowns are a thing of the past, the reality is they are here to stay for sometime yet, and the impacts continue to be felt by us all.BCCC is a charity event supporting RYDA and L2P programs. As we consider the current Covid environment, in which we’ve already commenced planning and outlaying working capital for the 2021 ride, we believe there are serious risks of last minute cancelations which are out of BCCC’s control. It is critical for the future of the event, and support of our charities, to conserve our working capital, and the BCCC committee have made the very difficult decision to cancel the event for 2021.We are planning for our 10th anniversary ride to go ahead on Saturday 5 November 2022. Medical experts anticipate vaccination rates, as we move into 2022, will get to a point where lockdowns won’t be necessary. BCCC can plan with confidence and you can ride with certainty. Success!!Your Bass Coast Cycle ChallengeIn lieu of an official BCCC this year, we would like to issue a personal challenge to our riders.Whether you are a Bass Coast local, or like to visit from other areas, we encourage you to get to beautiful Inverloch whenever you can, and ride one of our routes (see rides page for links to maps and ride profiles) with a few friends. You can connect to Strava (or an alternate ride timing app) and track your ride, clock your...

Bass Coast Cycle Challenge 2020 event update

To all our amazing supporters, For many months the Bass Coast Cycle Challenge committee has been in discussions regarding planning for the 2020 event, against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. We know many past and new riders are hoping to experience this wonderful event in 2020. However, as Covid-19 continues to cause concern and uncertainty, the BCCC committee has taken the decision to cancel the 2020 Bass Coast Cycle Challenge.  “It was a tough call and we hope you all understand that we’re committed to ensuring the health and safety of all of our incredible volunteers and ride participants,” said BCCC founder Gavin Slavin. As a charity event, run by volunteers, this decision has been held off until the latest possible date, taking into account timelines for planning, permit applications and other essential requirements. Being a charity event it is also critical to avoid investing funds into planning when there is a high likelihood of the event not being able to go ahead if restrictions are still in place. We will definitely be back in 2021. Pencil in Saturday 6 November 2021 and watch our website and social channels for more information. www.basscoastcyclechallenge.com Facebook...
